Message from Grandad - Each individual is separate only at the physical level, otherwise at the level of Pran (प्राण ), Mind (मन ), Intelligence (बुद्धि ) & higher realms (which we loosely describe as spiritual), the entire humanity as well as the animal kingdom are interconnected, & sensitive evolved humans can feel the pain & pleasure of all living beings.
So it is appropriate that you have been venturing into the spiritual realm as your family legacy.
Mudit,
Your squash training & playing competitive tournaments too tested your capacity to stay calm, in which your inherent strength - आध्यात्मिक depth must have helped you a great deal. This was tested also in your NYC experience & now when working from home, you have to put in long hours of attentive application of mind to discharge your duties, this quality comes into play. Some tension due to work is not harmful but is in fact, a trigger for you to buck up & do the required tasks efficiently. It is good that you have acquired a pair of blue light protector glasses which will reduce the strain to your eyes. Writing your diary is a good practice to unload your self regularly, apart from helping you to express your thoughts.
Obviously, you need to put in good use your college experience of studying Economics etc. Your present training is also helping you to grow in this direction. As you grow older, new responsibilities are bound to come your way which can't be predicted in advance. Let them come in due course as a matter of your career development. Don't be too concerned about the future; it will reveal itself by & by. Right now, just develop yourself physically, mentally & in your आध्यात्मिक pursuits. (14 May 2020 - Develop yourself first, give yourself time).
As for your question regarding helping others - my take on your observation - "When I try to implement it sometimes it’s hard, and sometimes I hold back.", is that you are unnecessarily complicating this process by questioning your self - do as much as possible instead of interrupting the process by your own questioning. To whatever extent you succeed, that is enough for the day. Being cheerful is a more spontaneous method of spreading happiness without any planning. Just remember this as often as possible. Be as tension-free & cheerful as possible in the normal course. When you smile, you are nearest to God in daily life. (21 May 2020)
My take on your query - "Were there other people who you were working with who were also very simple and honest?"
My answer is unfortunately very rarely so, though there were many fine people who worked with me & from whom I learnt a great deal (May 23, 2020)

Mudit,
Gurudev never specifically discussed the Gayatri Mantra with me, except for giving me a set of three volumes of Gayatri Maha Vigyan, of which I read a few pages a day many years ago to read all three of them. I summarized my understanding of the Gayatri Mantra on pages 62, 63 & 64 of my book. Rest I will discuss with you when we meet as per your questions etc. What I am trying to explore through the daily reading of two pages of the Gayatri Chalisa, is how Gurudev tried to simplify the meaning of the Gayatri Mantra in layman's language.
