Often times, when I used to see grandad passionately work at REACHA post his retirement, I used to ask him what made him get into IAS and then post that what led him to start REACHA?

On Asking who got him inspired to prepare for IAS, he said —

Who prodded me to prepare for the IAS? My Father did & that too when I was in class 11 — I was, in a way, contemplating to go for Sanyas, inspired by Swami Brahmanand Saraswati, the Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath (who I am sure now with hindsight, would have refused me this step as not being appropriate for my temperament at that early age) when Babu ji said, would it not be better to serve the country in a concrete manner by joining the IAS? And, that clicked within me & rest is history.

Your main preoccupation these days & even later as you proceed with your carrier, ought to be to keep improving your total self to become, more & more an evolved human being by continuous self appraisal & self introspection. This ought to become a lifelong passion so that you do not take it easy on achieving this or that. This is called — पात्रता विकास — developing your capacity to receive God’s Grace which happens in various ways & in various shapes. पात्रता विकास is like becoming a big vessel into which some liquid can be poured in. In this state of mind, you are never egoistic, but are always ready to learn from every one & every thing.
